‘Visit Kerala’ 2015 launched

‘Visit Kerala’ is an all year tourism campaign that aims to present travellers a mesmerizing experience of the state’s natural splendour, cultural ethnicity, etc. ‘Visit Kerala’ 2015-16 is launched by the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Culture and Tourism and MoS for Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma. AP Anilkumar, Tourism Minister, Kerala, said “Starting this Vishu (Kerala New Year), up to the next Vishu in April 2016, every visitor to Kerala will experience ‘God’s Own Country’ like never before… ”

Kumbh Mela 2015 inaugurated on 14th July

Drench in the festivities with the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela which was inaugurated by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union home minister Rajnath Singh in Nashik and in Trimbakeshwar respectively on Tuesday morning. It was inaugurated with the hoisting of the flag; Fadnavis hoisted the flag in Nashik and Singh did the honours in Trimbakeshwar.

Ramazan: It is a religious month which celebrates Islam as a religion. This month long festival includes fasting in the day and is replete with savory feasting while breaking the fast. It is the best time to feast on the traditional Indian Islamic cuisine. The revelry continues from sunset till sunrise. This holy month concludes itself with the grand festival of Eid-ul-Fitr which showcases more of such feasting and festivities.

Amarnath Yatra: The holy month of ‘Sawaan’ is considered amazingly auspicious as the Hindus go on a pious trail to Amarnath. Amarnath is a cave temple which is poised on the topmost hill named Amarnath. The cave houses a pious Shiva lingam which is naturally made out of ice. It has the toughest hill trek which pilgrims need to cross in order to have a glimpse of the natural Shiva lingam.

Nabakalebar Rath Yatra: It is a high-spirited 12 day festival which showcases a grand procession of the idols of Lord Jagannath with Balabhadra and Subhadra. This procession is called the Rath Yatra which includes towering chariots that comprises the Lords with his siblings and myriads of pilgrims.
